The book of Lamentations, writings supplied to us hundreds of years before Christ, gives us a glimpse of this concept of God’s constant supply of love and our daily renewal in chapter 3, verses 22 and 23.
We are a part of God because we are an expression of His creation. We are created in God’s image of a burning bush that never consumes but continually expresses life. God constantly exudes His great love for you and for me. His compassions never fail because they cannot be extinguished.
Because of this, when I fail, I can count on his mercy to be fresh with me every day. I can be recharged thanks to His promise of constant love. I might fail, but his love never fails.
His faithfulness is told to me from the beginning and is retold to me and refined through the New Covenant with Jesus.
During the first message recorded of the ministry of Jesus, He tells us about our relationship with the character of God in the Sermon on Mount in Matthew 5:6 – 7:
Jesus gives us the clear view that those who seek to understand God’s true intentions will find them. We are recharged when we reflect His mercy on others and don’t cloud our minds (as we often do when stewing on our own righteousness – just a human failing) as we also seek mercy of daily renewal from God.
Heavenly Father, how great is Your name. May Your kingdom come to earth. Lord Jesus, help me to understand and integrate just how magnificent You and the Father are because of Your ability to give me compassion that never fails. Your holy fire never extinguishes.
Thank you for the victory over sin and death so I can live my life to the full.
