Beautiful Savior God

Slaves to Sin No More

Paul explains how the new covenant between God and people is because of Christ’s sacrifice. Our continual sinful selves and ways of missing the mark with God are buried with Christ! We are no longer slaves to that sin. Jesus rose from the dead to seal this new covenant.

Paul’s knowledge of the law and the prophets and the previous covenant explains how the letter of the law kept us strapped to the identity of sin. The laws were written on stone and paper and created a system where people were beholden to a continual cycle of meaningless sacrifices.

Instead, Jesus told us that God wrote his law on our hearts. Then, He rose from the dead. Not for His sake, but for ours so we can share in new life.

1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Romans 6: 1 – 4

He Conquered Death – And Our Continual Cycle of Guilt

He conquered death. He conquered our continual cycle of death and repression under the weight of guilt and sin and a futile system of trying to get right with God.

Now we live because He lives. We are no longer under law, but under grace. We are now free to live, unhindered, the life God has designed for each of us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, how great is Your name. May Your kingdom come to earth. Lord Jesus, help me to know that when you died, my guilt and shame died with you. Help me to understand that today and every day forward for me is new life!

Thank you for the victory over sin and death so I can live my life to the full.
